Aces & Jokers is a podcast about the Wild Cards books, a series of shared-world superhero novels edited by George R. R. Martin, soon to be a Hulu TV show.
We're reading and discussing every Wild Cards book (at least 27 titles - they've been writing these things since the 80s and they're still coming out).
If you're not a fan of the books yet, join us and discover the joys of a series full of mutants, aliens, alternate history, unreconstructed 80s schlock and 90s anti-heroes. In one book, a bad guy swaps his grandfather's mind into the body of an underage girl, then impregnates him.
We usually release an episode every other week. We do two episodes per book, one for the first half and one for the second half. We're about halfway through reading all the books as of summer 2019.
We've tried our best to make the pod available wherever you listen to podcasts.
Searching "aces jokers" in your favourite podcast app will usually work.
If not, your app will have an option that says something like "Add by URL" or "Add RSS feed". Use that and enter this link:

If you've never listened to a podcast before, your phone probably already has Apple Podcasts (if it's an iPhone) or Google Podcasts (if it's Android).
In the USA we're available on Google Play Music, but that doesn't work outside the USA.
You can also find us on TuneIn, Stitcher, Overcast (the best podcast app for iPhones), Pocket Casts, Player.FM and Castro.
If you like what we do, please consider supporting us on Patreon with a teensy donation.
You'll get benefits like early episode access and patrons-only premium episodes.
We've set it up so you only pay when a new episode is released, so if we're busy and have to take a break, you don't pay anything.
Pledges start at just $1 per episode, and we'll never charge you for more than two episodes in a month.
As a patron, you'll be emailed a link that you can use with any podcast app to access public and premium episodes. Or you can listen in the Patreon app.
New to podcasts? Not sure if it's worth installing a podcast app yet? You can listen to any episode of the podcast in this player (unless it doesn't work in your browser).
The production quality in the first couple of episodes was a little rough because we were still figuring things out, so please bear with us.
Content note: the Wild Cards series involves some dark and over-the-top stuff (like the body-swap underage grandfather rape we mentioned in the About section) and we sometimes joke about it, so if that sounds like something that might upset you, please don't listen.
